Congratulations to all the 6th class pupils who celebrated their End of Year ceremony and Prize giving on Friday, 23rd June.


4th Class made their annual trip to Trim Castle as part of their study of the Normans in History.


A nest of young birds have taken up residence in the school notice board.


Our School Garden is looking very well! Thanks to Ms Gaughan and all the pupils in 5th class for all their weeding, watering and hard work!


Congratulations to second class on their big day. They all had their photograph taken together.


Congratulations to 5th class who have now completed the Friends for Life programme. They concluded the programme with an ice-cream party! Thanks to Ms Falvey and Ms Meehan for all their work.


Thanks to Balbriggan Community College for inviting 5th class to their STEAM day. It was a very enjoyable and informative visit.


Congratulations to the Senior Boys Gaelic Football team who reached the final of the Fingal Schools League 2017. Well done lads, you did the school proud! Baile Scadán abú!


We had a visit from Skippy John from Skipping 4 Life on 25th April. It was a fun day made possible by the voluntary contributions of our parents.


4th Class took part in a Balbriggan RFC rugby blitz on 30th March 2017.


Seachtain na Gaeilge, Lá sa Halla le Rang a hAon! Bhí gach rang sa halla inniu ag canadh agus ag spraoi as Gaeilge. All the classes came to the hall for Irish Week to sing songs, act out dramas and have fun in irish!

Junior and Senior Infants are doing Music Makers workshops each Tuesday for 4 weeks with Maria Sheil (started 13th January)

Our Junior Infants go blackberry picking. They then made jam from the blackberries and their own brown bread.

We received our Digital School of Distinction award.

  • Leinster Rugby Mascot: Our 4th class pupil Cormac Mooney was the Leinster rugby team mascot for their Pro 12 match on Friday, 28th April, 2017 in the RDS! Well done Cormac from all in Balscadden!

  • Sacraments: First Holy Communion took place on Saturday, 20th May, 2017 in Balscadden Church.

  • First Confession: First Confession took place in Balscadden Church on Thursday, 30th March.

  • Seachtain na Gaeilge: Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge ar siúl i mBaile Scadán ó 13-17 Márta 2017.

  • Balscadden was a Car Free Zone on the morning of Thursday, 16th March. A St Patrick's Walk to School took place for all the children.

  • Our Anti-Bullying/Friendship Week took place from 13th-17th February.

  • World Book Day was celebrated in the school on 2nd March, 2017.

  • Little Music Makers with Maria Sheil: Junior Infants and Senior Infants enjoyed four music workshops in January on the theme Red Riding Hood. This was made possible through voluntary contributions.

  • School Calendar: Thanks to everyone who bought one of our 2017 calendars. They are now sold out!

  • Our annual Book Fair took place on Wednesday, 30th November and Thursday, 1st December. Thanks to the parent volunteers who ran it over the two days and to everyone who supported by buying books.

  • The Christmas Quiz took place on Friday, 2nd December. Well done to the Parents' Association for organising.

  • The Christmas Fair took place on Sunday, 4th December. Combined with the proceeds from the quiz, it raised €3200. Thanks to all who supported this event.

  • St Benignus Day was celebrated in the school on Friday, 18th November. Big Bear Planetariums visited and tied in with our Science Week activities. This visit was made possible thanks to the Voluntary Contributions of parents.

  • Science Week took place from 14th-18th November.

  • Dress Down for Dyslexia Day took place on Friday, 28th October. We raised €320 for the local Dyslexia Workshop. Thanks to all who supported.
