Seachtain na Gaeilge 2019 was greatly enjoyed by Rang 3 with a performance of Báidín Fheilimí and Mise agus Leipreachán Bob and culminating with great performances from all the classes during Lá sa Halla.

3rd Class celebrating World Book Day 2019.
Well done to the pupils and teachers in 5th class for their entry in Science Blast 2019 in the RDS, Dublin. The project they did on water ph was described by the judges as 'very impressive'. They won a lovely trophy.

Mr Z/Scott Ziglinski visited the school on 1st February, 2019 to work on some science experiments with the senior classes 3rd-6th. They learned a lot about friction and gravity.

Thanks to Jim Walsh, local historian, who visited the school in December. He worked with 4th class on the local history of Balscadden and with 5th and 6th classes on the history of Balbriggan.

Congratulations to 6th Class on their completion of the Marathon Kids Challenge in Morton Stadium, Santry. They have been building up their kilometres over the past number of weeks. They have now completed the challenge and they received their medals and t-shirts!
Our Run Around Europe Challenge is going very well! Our Active School Committee members have been using their Kilometre Counters to clock up the Kilometres. So far we have reached London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, Cohenhagen, Berlin, Andorra, Prague, Vienna, Ljubljana, and now we are at Bratislava. Our Active School Walkway has been turned into an Active Runway!
Thanks to 6th Class who hosted a Science Expo in the school hall to kick off Science Week 2018. All the classes visited the expo to learn about science and see actual experiments being carried out.
Best wishes to Noeleen Halligan on her retirement as SNA in the school from pupils, staff, Parents' Association and Board of Management. Tulip the goat even made an appearance on her last day!
6th class invited our junior infants to their classroom to play Halloween games. Our 5th class also invited senior infants to their classroom for some Halloween fun!
Fitter Younger organised our Marathon Relay on Monday, 22nd October! Thanks to everyone who took part, including pupils, parents and staff! All funds will go towards St John's Ward, Crumlin Children's Hospital. Sponsorship cards should be returned as soon as possible.

Congratulations to Emily Whelan, past pupil of our school, who made her Senior International Football debut with Ireland against Poland on 9th October, 2018. We are very proud of Emily. She was also the youngest member of the squad!
First Class went on a Tree Walk to Ardgillan Park on 3rd October to celebrate Tree Day 2018. It was a very active trip where they observed the different tree and leaf types as well as engaging in some land art.
Congratulations to Carla Rowe and the Dublin Ladies Football team on winning a second All-Ireland title in a row. We are very proud of Carla, who is a past pupil of our school! Carla also won the Player of the Match award for the final where she scored both of Dublin's two goals.
This is our Active School Flag (ASF) Committee. They act as playground leaders in the school. They will be counting the kilometres of how far we are walking and running on the Active School Walkway. They will also be distributing and collecting playground equipment on the playgrounds at break times. They will also be looking after the music zone on the playground which is an area of the playground for dancing.
Work has commenced on our Active School Walkway. This is Christy, our caretaker working with the 6th class Active School Flag (ASF) Committee members to set up the walkway around the school.
This is our newly elected Student Council. They are preparing for the year ahead. The Student Council chose the design of our new Homework Journal 2018/19. They made a great choice.
Some of our 6th Class pupils are working as Playground Buddies to our new Junior Infants to help them to settle into life on the school playground.
Well done to 2nd Class on a wonderful performance of Billy the Bus! It was 20 years since it was performed when Ms Kinane was a pupil in the class and Ms Donnelly was the teacher. Lovely to come full circle! The children's sign language throughout the play was inspiring!

Thanks to one of our parents Philip for arranging a visit from the Skerries Coastguard. All the classes heard a very informative presentation. They also participated in stretcher carrying and got to see the jeeps and equipment the Coastguard use!

Book Day 2018 being celebrated in 4th Class. Nicky Maxwell (Dark Diaries), George (George's Marvellous Medicine), Little Bear (Goldilocks), Penny (Girl Online), Fern (Charlotte's Web), Frank (Heroes of Olympus), Matilda, Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Harry Potter and Hermione Granger).

1st class on their tree walk to Ardgillan Park for National Tree Day 2017. This trip was made possible thanks to the Voluntary Contributions of parents.
